Warrant Officer Bolton joined the Royal Air Force as a Technical Apprentice on 26 October 1965 pursuing a career as an Engine Technician. He has been a loyal Serviceman, a conscientious and hardworking tradesman who could be relied upon to achieve the highest standards. He has displayed sound personal qualities and integrity throughout his career and has enjoyed the respect of his superiors, peers and subordinates alike. Warrant Officer Bolton was promoted to his present rank of warrant officer (the highest Senior Non-Commissioned Officer rank) in January 2001 and has held a variety of supervisory and management posts in both the United Kingdom and overseas.

More recently, Warrant Officer Bolton has been employed in the Directorate of Logistic Support within the Defence Logistics Organisation where his duties have included; the implementation and management of International Standards Organisation compliant quality management systems, the conduct and coordination of the European Foundation Quality Model self-assessments and coordination of Service manpower allocation in support to the civil powers. His natural ability for working with people, his pleasant nature and motivation to his work were highly valued during his successful tour of duty. Particularly noteworthy was his excellent work in conducting the EFQM self assessment activity for 2002 and his success in planning and implementing the Directorate’s quality management system which achieved full ISO 9001:2000 certification in March 2003.
