My career in quality began in 1986 within the Royal Air Force, where I introduced new quality concepts to a Tornado squadron. Over 39 years as an aircraft technician and Quality Manager, I developed a “boots on the ground” understanding of aviation excellence that can only be earned through decades of service.

Since transitioning to civilian consultancy in 2003, I have served as a high-level third-party auditor for the world’s leading accredited bodies, including BSI, SGS, DNV, and LRQA. I am the person who has woken up in hotel rooms across 35 countries—from the Falkland Islands to Finland—wondering which country I was in that morning, all while ensuring quality standards for approximately 400 companies.

C & A Quality Services Ltd has risen ‘Phoenix-like’ from the legacy of my previous firm, ABC Quality Management Ltd. This evolution represents a renewed commitment to breathing new life into old management systems and preparing organisations for the 2026 updates to ISO 9001 and AS91xx standards.

In 2011, AeroDEC used AndrewBolton of ABC Quality Management Ltd to introduce AS 9100 into our Design Company which previously did not have a Quality Management System. Processes and procedures were developed and introduced to the staff which took an elapsed period of 6 months during which Andrew spent a total of 5 working days on site. Although much of the basic work was carried out by our own staff, Andrew was able to give guidance at all times and steer the project through to completion.

The resulting initial audit had only 6 small non conformances which were quickly cleared.

I found Andrew to be a flexible consultant willing to change track when required and to be able to get the best from the people around him. His extensive experience in this field showed through at every stage which was of great benefit to the Company and enabled the Quality Management System to be introduced with the minimum of problems. He was seen to be very organised, punctual and was good value in the completion of the project.
